    About the Book

There is no getting away from carbon - it's here, there and everywhere - even in outer space in the form of buckyballs viz. large spheroidal molecules consisting of hollow cages of sixty or more carbon atoms.

Carbon resides in every nook and cranny of your body viz. hair and nails, skin, viscera, blood, arteries, veins, muscles, brain, nerves, bone cells etc. It's in the clothes you wear; the fruits you relish; the steaks you crave; the spirits that get you inebriated; the books you avidly read; the works of art you adore; the instruments that produce the music you enjoy; the non-alcoholic beverages that invigorate you; the buttered toast you scoff; the cheeses that send your taste buds into overdrive; the numerous condiments and appliances in your kitchens (not least non-stick frying pans) that enable you to create tasty meals; the creams, lotions, shampoos and perfumes you pamper your body with; the detergents that clean your clothes; the countless gizmos and computer related paraphernalia you cannot live without; the vehicles that take you places and the fuels which power them; the medications that keep you alive; the drugs that alleviate your pain; the enzymes that enable you to function and ultimately the blueprint of life (your DNA) that houses genetic instructions which oversee the way you develop and function. The list is quite literally endless.
