    About the Book

    Edit

These narratives explore a lifetime of experiences, all the success and failures, the wonder and sadness, all the shards of human circumstance which come together to define us. Each story explores the human condition, looking at the underpinnings of our very existence, where events sometimes lie just outside our daily reality. Moving through hidden landscapes, I have examined these moments through the lens of the fantastic, sometimes blurring the lines of reality and always pushing the boundaries of possibilities.

    Joseph Stamburski
    Warrenton, MO

Joseph G. Stamburski is a photographer whose work documents the structural forces reshaping eastern Missouri counties along the I-70 corridor. He specifically explores the gentrification, displacement, and architectural loss accompanying rapid housing and retail development. Joseph brings distinctive qualifications to this subject matter through forty years of continuous residence in Warren County, Missouri, positioned within the region's most dynamic growth zone. His perspective combines deep personal knowledge of place-based transformation with analytical distance—he has witnessed decades of regional change while maintaining the critical awareness necessary for meaningful artistic engagement. Joseph's background includes military service as a Hospital Corpsman with the U.S. Navy and with the United States Marine Corps Fleet Marine Force, as well as an extended career in retail work within his community. Joseph is currently based in Warrenton, Missouri.
