About the Book
Understanding and Experiencing Qigong
The Eight Brocades (Ba Duan Jin) are among the best-known exercise sequences in Qigong – easy to learn, profound in their effect. This book invites readers not only to practice this ancient Chinese tradition physically, but also to gain a clear insight into it. The author combines decades of experience with a keen sense for correlations. The exercises are described in detail, supplemented by easy-to-understand explanations of their effects on the body, breathing, and energy flow. The book incorporates insights from traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)—such as the role of the meridians, the Dan Tian, and the so-called “extraordinary meridians,” which are often overlooked but are crucial for a deeper understanding—as well as profound knowledge from Western medicine.
A particular concern of the book is to make theoretical knowledge accessible – without simplifying it, but in such a way that the reader does not switch off due to information overload. Those who practice regularly will soon feel the effects: more calm, more strength, more clarity. An inspiring book for anyone who wants to experience Qigong holistically with body and mind.
