    About the Book

    Edit

The 1975 pop quiz book revisits the years 1965 to 1974. A touch of nostalgia, but don't be alarmed you get your hands on a pristine brand new copy of the book which as the title suggests was first printed in 1975. The previous decade from sixty five to seventy four witnessed a transformation in musical taste and youth culture on a scale never seen before in the history of music. A moment in time that heralded the arrival of pop, rock, progressive rock, reggae and glam rock in tandem with the emergence of the mods, rockers, hippies, the original skinhead of 69 and the glam rockers.
The 45 RPM or 7" was king back then as vinyl was the only readily available medium to be found in many specialist stores including the famous Woolworths, with the top 30 always available. For the younger generation today the book may represent a challenge but many of the records are true classics that still get an airing or two now and again, even in this digital age. Just take a look at any of the Glastonbury Festival line ups of recent years.
The challenge: The song and or artist has been disguised to a degree but a reasonable knowledge will shine through, pointers are available if required. There are additional trivia questions and a section for each year on who is the artist of an album and who had a number one hit that year.
Good luck but remember this is 1975.

Well I'm sure you don't want me to ramble on about myself in anticipation you've visited to check what books are available for your indulgence. The only thing I would say is that I write about the things I have a passion for. One being music, to be more precise 'Skinhead Reggae'. I can honestly say I was there between 68 -72. I Suppose I could declare "been there, done that and got the tee shirt. Or perhaps that should read Ben Sherman, which incidentally if you do get around to reading 'The History of Skinhead Reggae' you will notice I still possess. My latest foray is a story about a young lad who's unable to identify or sympathise with his peer group of hippies and bikers then he discovered the skinhead culture and reggae in the spring of 1969. Our Boss is certainly no choir boy. He's not excessively aggressive but has acquired a penchant to demonstrate an overload of high jinks. Is it Biographical? Well if asked I will elucidate the characters and events are all fictional.
