Basu Dev Gaudel is a Nepali Canadian writer residing in New Westminster, British Columbia. He holds a Master’s degree in Sociology and a postgraduate degree in Buddhist Studies from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. His academic background and literary work reflect a sustained interest in migration, identity, and the preservation of cultural heritage. His debut memoir, Roots in Nepal, Wings in Canada, published in 2025, explores themes of belonging and transnational experience. He lives in New Westminster BC Canada with his wife, daughter, and his dog, Gucci. The title reflects the idea of transnational identity- how immigrants can stay connected to their heritage while actively engaging with a new culture and society.It highlights the dual identity many new immigrants carry; honouring the past while embracing the future. It also symbolises the broader immigrant experience, leaving behind the family to pursue something unknown with courage and hope.
