About
Kathleen L. Ryan is a wildlife photographer and writer based on California’s central coast. Her work reflects a lifelong passion for conservation and the enduring beauty of the natural world. In 1988, she traveled across Kenya and Tanzania, capturing East Africa’s great wildlife on Kodachrome 64 color slide film. In 2025, she digitally remastered those images for her book Witness to the Wild: A Photo Safari in East Africa, preserving a vanishing world for future generations. Her photography has been published by the World Wildlife Fund in its Focus newsletter and continues to honor the connection between wildlife, and the fragile landscapes they share.
