    About the Book

    Edit

This is the tale of a house on St. David Ridge and all the families that have lived in it since the late 1700s. Isaac Cook had been a revolutionary war soldier, with ancestors in Cambridge, MA. At age 38 he came "downeast" to New Brunswick with mill machinery, met a young woman (descendant of Hannah Duston), and built this house after they were married in 1797. The book tells not just his fascinating story, but also that of his wife Susanna Dusten, and of families married in since - including their backgrounds, including photos, from specific farms in Ireland. Unexpected new information surfaced in New Hampshire archives this summer, and this 2nd edition of the book pulls in the latest facts that add further interest to the stories. Also a 4-generation detail of descendants of Isaac & Susanna.

St. David Ridge, New Brunswick, Canada

Being passionate means learning in depth. My top passions are continuing to learn the best routes towards family genealogy, including DNA genealogy. But it includes also observing a multi-cat household, and in the past has included long distance explorations on foot through many of the wilder areas of Asia and North America. Tom Moffatt lives in a family home near St. Stephen, New Brunswick and Calais, Maine built in 1800 and 1801, with his artist wife Anne Johnston and five indoor cats.
