The Biography of Ras Mekonnen Wolde Mikael (1852 - 1906). This book offers a portrayal of one of the most celebrated nineteenth century Ethiopian aristocrat.

During the span of fifty four years, this illustrious nobleman served his country in numerous ways. As the first governor of Harer, Ras Mekonnen had made a significant contribution to the development of this newly acquired territory. The Ras made two trips abroad. First as a special envoy to sign the fateful supplemental article to the Wechale Treaty. Second as the special emissary during the coronation of Edward VII. His exposure to the West had had a profound impact on him and he became tireless in his pursuit to develop Western education in his country.
