    About the Book

Shoulders of the Gods... The Magic of Mountains... realistically has been a work in progress most of my life. I grew up in the California Sierra and when not at or in the ocean... my time is spent in the mountains. So this work truly is a life long labour of love. I live on the flank of the Canadian Rockies in British Columbia, Canada, where incredible scenery is literally just outside the door. Some of these photographs were taken less than five minutes from our house... some right off the porch! Indeed I am a lucky fellow. Unless otherwise noted, the images that grace these pages were captured along the Icefields Parkway between Jasper and Banff, Alberta, Canada... which I believe to be the greatest mountain drive in the world. On purpose I have limited the text as without question the images speak for themselves. Any photographer or artist will tell you that it is impossible to capture the immense beauty, awe and overwhelming perspective that is the essence of these magical places. As the title suggests, there is something truly divine in the mountains and it is not hard to imagine that these majestic natural creations could easily be... ... Shoulders of the Gods.
