Leonard A. Kaufmann, born in South Carolina and living in Colorado since 1965, is a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines, an excellent school for engineering. His self-taught art education began as a teenager, making artwork from his favorite comic books, such as Spiderman, The Hulk, and Conan the Barbarian. His bedroom walls were decorated with posters of his childhood heroes. His walls are still decorated, but with new and original images. Most recently acrylic paintings have dominated his artistic and creative journey with occasional clay figure sculptures. He takes classes at the Art Student’s League of Denverand works in his loft studio, continuing to focus on his current “52 Paintings in 52 Weeks” series.
