About the Book
What drives my thesis project Models In Color is my sever desire to show how women of African and African-American decent can transcend the traditional roles the United States fashion industry has given to them. My thesis project will display models of African and African-American decent can too be economically viable in the mainstream high fashion industry within the United States. It is not very often the industry gives a woman of African decent the title of supermodel without her having to alienate her counterparts making her the token model of color that season. In my thesis project I will only use women of African or African-American decent in high fashion advertisements and editorials to dispel the myth women of color are not as economically viable in these advertisements.
