    About the Book

    Edit

Produced for the Moravian Museum of Bethlehem, this beautifully illustrated book contains 50 four-color photographs of the Single Sisters' House taken in 2008 prior to preservation work. The Single Sisters' House, located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, is a unique historic building whose walls hold a fascinating story. Built in 1744, it was home to the Moravian Single Sisters during the early years of Bethlehem, and it has been used as a residence for women for more than 250 years. It is the oldest surviving stone structure in Bethlehem. Photographs document three floors of the oldest wing, including the Saal and third floor sleeping areas. Also included are images from the early years of Bethlehem, information about the Sisters' daily lives, and even a few excerpts from their memoirs.
