    Losing Ground

    Dorothy Simpson Krause ©2009

As our global population increases exponentially, the effects of our actions are changing the environment. With global warming and the melting polar icecaps contributing to rising ocean levels, we are literally and figuratively losing ground. Krause combines images chosen from more than a decade of her work with text selected from the publications of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change to make a plea for awareness of our role as stewards of the environment.

In addition to this 7" x 7" softcover open edition, there is also a limited edition of 100, 12" x 12", 41 pages, printed on the HP Indigo press 5500 by

Acme Bookbinding, Charlestown, MA on Mohawk Options #65 cover with tipped-in images, graphite, metallic pigments, embossing powder and gold leaf. The cover is of black Brillianta with a patinaed copper inset and there is a matching black clamshell box.

A deluxe edition of 6, similarly made, is covered in aubergine Nigerian goat with a gold Brillianta clamshell box.

Information about the process of producing the book can be seen at Viewpoint Editions.
