    About the Book

    Edit

    The street photographer haunts public
space, hoping for that lucky intersection
    of elements that become, however
    briefly, something remarkable. At
the same time, the camera’s mechanical
eye strips human filters to show a
    world lonelier and more depersonalized
than seen by physical vision. The
    street photographer, better to capture
people undisturbed, also aims for invisibility.
    Ghostly Capture presents
many images in which subjects were
only marginally, if at all, aware of their
    presence being recorded. Many of
these photographs were made on city
streets, but also at the seashore and
    even indoors, anywhere strangers gathered.
The aim was to capture images
that stared back, suggesting a mystery.
