Transylvanian Sheperds, by photographer Laurence Salzmann, offers a glimpse of the way of life of Romanian Shepherds from the early 1980's. His photographs recall in a lyrical way the way they lived then. Romania's membership in the European Union and the onward march of time has changed changed their way of life. They are no longer free to do the annual migrations from winter to summer pasturages. And cheeses must now be made according to European standards.
