    About the Book

    Edit

Héctor Méndez Caratini is a Puerto Rican artist/photographer with a boundless, insatiable curiosity. When a subject interests him, he attacks the question in an organized and scientific way. He is not the sort to set off blindly in pursuit of the answer to, or knowledge about, a question. Instead, working like an anthropologist, he begins gathering information and background details to develop a deep understanding of the subject. Organizing this information, he pictures in his mind photographs he might make even before he journeys to the place he plans to photograph. These days, that place is likely to be on the other side of the world.

From the essay FORWARD, INTO THE PAST: An Afterword by Jan Galligan and Lillian Mulero.
