About the Book
One of Andreas Schmidt's friends, who worked in the fashion industry, told him once that their designs were copies of high street items that had undergone five radical changes. For example, buttons were replaced by a zip, a Polo neck turned into a V-neck, a color changed from green to red, the lenght was extended or shortened and the garment's yarn was changed from cashmere to cotton-acrylic.
In his new book 'The After Series' Schmidt applied this formula to iconic color photographs. Crop, horizontal flip, greyscale, negative and blur were the five steps that resulted in uncanny 'afterimages' bearing only a trace of the original, depending on the familiarity of the image at source.
