    About the Book

    Edit

Project based on the private library acquired by l. dos santos during the 1960s and ‘70s. The library reflects his professional interests, including architecture, urban planning and education, as well as the influence of historical events that marked those two decades: the anti-fascist movement, may 68, students’ riots, the portuguese carnations revolution and the PREC – the revolutionary period after april the 25th. Researching this library forty years later, a selection of images and texts in the books, magazines, leaflets was reworked through editing, drawing, sampling and experimental writing. We created a fragmented intertextual narrative, which takes a subjective look at the public documents in a private archive.

The handmade edition, produced in lisbon in august 2010, is size A4, 29,7x21 cm, and was printed in an epson stylus sx105, using varied papers (including vegetable parchment, greaseproof paper, tracing paper , maps and file separators) found in the same library.

This print on demand edition is size standard portrait, 25x20 cm, and is printed on premium (matte finish) paper by blurb.com

    paula roush
    London, uk

paula is a photographer, and in her practice interweaves her own photography with orphan photographs, found objects and archival research to draw links between experiences of contemplative photography and synchronicity in everyday life. She is also Senior Lecturer in Art Photography and Photobook Publishing in the School of Arts and Creative Industries at the London South Bank University, and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. paula created msdm —the acronym for mobile strategies of display & mediation—as a nomadic project space for artistic and curatorial experimentation, social publishing and shared learning experience. Since 2015 the msdm project has been focused on developing a live-work method articulated around the model of house—studio—gallery, a project space with its own imprint: msdm publications— a micro-publishing platform encompassing photographic and book art processes.
