    About the Book

    Edit

In My Mind is a collaborative work that includes writings about nonviolence from the perspective of eleven high school students. This collection includes work from the students of High Tech High Chula Vista. The essay topics range from peace in one's everyday life, rap and nonviolence, to inner strength and inner peace.

    Selections from In My Mind

"The love I give and take are not the only important things to me, but there is also the type of love that I put into different passions."

"We find violence everywhere from modern hip-hop where time and again artists who talk about killing people and committing crimes earned the most record sales and media recognition to modern cinema the gory action packed movies get the most views."

"If we can instill these qualities of peace and respect in America’s youth, we may witness students who are eager to learn and participate in class instead of students who sulk in corners and develop a hatred towards school."

"We have all experienced the difficulty that comes with forgiving someone who has inflicted pain and hurt on us, and throughout our lives. Pushing through that difficulty is the greatest sign of strength that there is."
