    About the Book

    Edit

Fernando Coelho is a Portuguese street photographer and writer based in the beautiful city of Utrecht in the center of The Netherlands.
His street photography journey began in 2012 in Lisbon, his hometown, and has since evolved into a style in which raw, candid moments are blended with Fine Art aesthetics.
With a background in the sciences, Fernando treats the street as a laboratory — testing light, time, and motion to shape black and white images that feel as much as they show.
He is a 1x awarded photographer and writes regularly on Medium and Substack about photography's process, ethics, and craft.
On the streets, his tools are simple: patience, reflections, slow shutters, and an insistence on seeing untold stories of the anonymous subjects, like us, who populate the streets.
“Seeing the Quiet” is his first monograph. Move through it like a night walk: slow, curious, and open to small coincidences.
Let the shadows breathe and the images speak at their own pace — the stories will meet you halfway.
