About the Book
This collection began during the pandemic—quarantined on a campus far from home, with time suspended and the world outside both unreachable and unfamiliar. In that stillness, I came to understand nostalgia not merely as memory, but as a lens—an act of imagining. To be nostalgic is to reconstruct the past, often romantically, to contrast the present. It is a wistful self-distancing from the now. This collection is a documentation of a flicker of light, a fold in fabric, a slant of architecture—and suddenly we are elsewhere. Nostalgia is symbolized in this flicker: brief, luminous, impossibly alive. flickers—these nodes of nostalgia. Each photograph captures a scene or object that stirred in me a memory or longing I could not always name. These images are not just records of COVID-era solitude; they trace the emotional terrain where memory, time, and imagination overlap. They show how memory bends light, how even the most ordinary moments can become sacred in retrospect.
