About the Book
This comprehensive process details the creation of the Moka Pot, encompassing various stages from sketch development and initial card and form modeling to CAD construction, prototype 3D printing, and final appearance model building. While it may not be a practical solution for manufacturing or usability, the primary focus was on preserving the design intent, family resemblance, and overall aesthetic of the original toaster project. Notably, the integration of hybrid prototyping modeling and development stages resulted in a unique and exploratory approach to the design evaluation. This was primarily driven by the integration of rapid and straightforward 3D printing capabilities, where previously, traditional foam modeling would have been employed for evaluation purposes. However, the hybridising significantly accelerated this development and evaluation process, enabling more direct design decisions to be made. This process document serves as a narrative, a ‘story telling’ through my particular design process.
