    About the Book

    Edit

Quimera no ofrece respuestas.

Quimera is a journey through time and memory, a collection of black and white images captured over more than a decade of travels across different corners of the world. It is not a travel diary or a documentary record, but a cartography of reverie, the reflection of a wandering without a fixed destination, guided by intuition and wonder.

The photographs in this book do not seek to describe places but to evoke states of mind. Shadows and light weave ambiguous landscapes where shapes blur and faces become echoes. Each image is a trace of the ephemeral, a fragment of a dream hovering between the real and the imagined. In these contrasts, in these silences, lies the essence of Quimera: a universe of suspended sensations, where photography ceases to be a witness and becomes an invocation.

José A. Lorenzo (Toronto, 1975) is a photographer and traveller. The son of a Spanish father and a Mexican mother, he moved to Spain at the age of 14, beginning a life marked by travel and exploration. He has lived in various countries, spending three years in Timor-Leste, three in the Netherlands, three in Italy, as well as shorter stays in Kosovo and Lebanon. His journeys have taken him across much of Southeast Asia, Australia, and Europe, always with his camera in hand to document landscapes, cultures, and fleeting moments. He has self-published several photobooks, where he combines his documentary vision with a unique artistic sensibility.
