About the Book
Another fine art album of whimsical artwork by Sue Clancy from her fine art exhibit titled Figures of Speech 2.0. As she worked toward her exhibit Clancy kept thinking of various phrases that are often taken for granted. What happens when she examines curiously the content of such ready-made language? We learn languages and phrases from other people. These can become our linguistic habits and habits of mind. So Clancy has taken the content of ready-made language and looked at it as if it's unfamiliar. She took phrases that have been common to her and played with them visually, using ink, gouache and acrylic in order to share with a viewer the surprise of recognition and perhaps a laugh. This book is also a work of art while it is related to her one-person exhibit it stands on its own as another whimsical, joyful expression by Clancy of her delight in living, in painting and her love of wordplay.
