About the Book
I feel the need to merge the lowbrow with erudition to create an inclusive middle ground that touches and informs all walks of life. The work in this book is a natural extrapolation- the truth behind the fairy tale. I look at it as a reflection of a bankrupt culture. By creating what if scenarios, infusing loving homage with harsh realities and biting satire, I wish to say something honest and meaningful about contemporary society and the world we live in, pulling classical imagery into the pop culture dialog. Using graphic language reminiscent of the source material married to painterly studies quoting key moments in art history, I want to introduce a moment of clarity indicating there are no supermen, and in the end, you must save yourself, and we must save each other.

About the Creator
Issues Gallery
Queens, NY
As mental health has always been a taboo, stigmatized subject, the one thing people all fear, we at Issues Gallery lean into our respective issues, trauma, and treatment, benefitting from years of therapy, and using the arts as a way to understand and heal ourselves and others. We offer ourselves up as courageous examples of expressive arts therapy, healing, and using these tools; through exhibition of our work, art books, and memoirs, as guideposts and breadcrumbs for others still lost in the fog of mental illness and instability but aware enough to want to find a way out.
