    About the Book

    Edit

The state of Michigan is bordered by four of the five Great Lakes (Lake Erie, Lake Huron, Lake Michigan, Lake Superior). The state also has countless lakes, rivers, streams, and waterfalls throughout its interior. The shorelines, beaches, sand dunes, cliffs, forests, and hills collectively create incredible natural beauty that is a dream come true for the landscape photographer. Michigan’s coastlines are also dotted with small towns and villages that offer diverse opportunities to capture urban photography in locations with amazing scenery. With the Great Lakes and rivers come rich maritime histories. Michigan has more than 3280 miles of freshwater shoreline, the longest of any state except Alaska. To aid maritime navigation, about 140 lighthouses have been built in Michigan, more than any other state.

This is the second of a series of travel photography books that we are publishing on Michigan’s coastal landscapes and towns. This book (volume 2) focuses on the northwest coasts of the Lower Peninsula. The third volume will cover the northern, northeastern, and eastern coasts of the Lower Peninsula. Plans are to publish books in the future that focus on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
