    About the Book

    Edit

In 1855, before his commission to the Crimean War, Dr James Williamson met Emma Fisher, the sister of his closest friend. He fell in love with her, and upon his return to England the following year, he began to write her a weekly love letter. These letters have now been transcribed into a compilation that explores the intricacies of Victorian daily life, from Glasgow to London, through its hardships, triumphs, and loves.

This paperback edition of Dr Williamson's love letters is the product of months of work to transcribe them so that they may be appreciated over 150 years after their creation in Victorian England.
