CINNAMON TOAST

Buttered sunshine sprinkled with cinnamon bark
awakes to curling smoke warming a singing lark.
Sweet toast aroma fills the still sleepy fresh air;
promises of winter play will lighten any care.

Whoever planted trees so straight and tall,
must have enjoyed the fruits of them all.
Maple syrup, apple crisp and cherry pie,
did they know seeds would reach the sky?

The shadows cast may live many more years;
cold winds will whistle and tickle silent ears.
Sleigh bells respond with a happy jingle;
birds fly by this chorus just to mingle.

Wandering in trees is good for the heart:
their beauty creates magical woodlands art!
Being caretakers for these gifts, we could not earn;
our delight comes from sharing a forest loving turn!
