About the Book
Signs of Life: the Art of Kris Loya is the story of a young woman whose life was cut far too short by cancer, only a few days shy of her 41st birthday, but it is also far more than that, since this young woman lived life to its absolute fullest, always eager to learn as an artist, and as a curious human being who truly loved her life. Born in Trinidad, Kris moved to Virginia to live with her husband Steve in 2009. There she would begin to blossom as a well-loved artist, teacher, and designer, who even ran a very successful art gallery in Leesburg, for a couple of years. In this book, her husband Steve has compiled images of Kris' work that only scrapes the surface of her prolific creative output. It is also a story not told with words, but by images showcasing the beauty of life, celebrated through the visual language of art.
