    Denis Freeman of Gortnahoe near Littleton in County Tipperary, who married Mary Maher, had a son Richard born in 1811. He married secondly Bridget Bourke and their eldest son James, born in 1846 emigrated to Australia in 1878, where he married Bridget Maguire, who had also been born in Ireland.

    This James had a second son named James, who married Harriet Gertrude McDonnell in 1906. This couple had a daughter and three sons. These four siblings have now all passed away and their offspring have become the oldest living generation of the Australian Freeman clan. There are 19 children of these four siblings but as most are living, their details are not included in this book for privacy reasons.
