Picture book telling the story of the Herkimer ancestors who fled from the region of Palatinate, in Germany, suffering the effects of warfare and draught, settled in the Mohawk Valley and fought for their independence in 1776 except for a few loyalists. General Nicholas Herkimer was the brother of ancestor George Herkimer and loyalist Johan Jost Herkimer.
