    About the Book

    Edit

This magazine includes portraits and photo-essays depicting the work of "peace elders" in my hometown of Brunswick, Maine and neighboring communities. They include:
    — The co-founder of the Green Party in the United States and Maine.
    — A Quaker activist who created a nonprofit to feed, shelter and educate AIDS orphans in Kenya.
    — A bioregional poet who's helped disabled adults, Vietnam veterans, African refugees and the homeless find their voices as writers.
    — A self-taught heirloom apple detective who's helping to save Maine's most-treasured apples.
