Victor Groisser, born in 1928, grew up in the humble streets of Depression-era Brooklyn. He and his two brothers were raised by their mother in an intellectual and liberal milieu and valued learning, hard work, and joy. These lessons paid off, and then some. Upon high school graduation, Victor was awarded the Robertson prize, given to the top student throughout Brooklyn. Following medical school, Victor served his country as a doctor at Leavenworth Federal Prison, and later became a worldclass gastroenterologist famed for his innovation and patient-centered care and kindness. He was married to Carrie, the love of his life, for sixty-eight years and is a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather. This is the memoir of a Great American.
