    About the Book

    Edit

This is not your typical leadership book.
This is a declaration. A disruption. A doorway.
Born from scholarship, sharpened by lived experience, and delivered with soul, Claiming Fire is a bold call to Black lesbian leaders to stop shrinking, start speaking, and lead with unapologetic power.

Dr. Brandynicole Brooks weaves together personal narrative, critical research, and guided reflections that meet you where you are — tired, brilliant, invisible, unstoppable — and walks with you toward the leader you were always becoming.

    Inside, you’ll find:
Stories that reflect the complexity of your truth
“The Academy” sections grounding each chapter in real research
Journal prompts to help you heal while you lead
Interlude essays and rituals to restore your fire
A call to action to lead not just for titles — but for legacy
